Namibia safari best-of and wildlife adventure: Trip Description

This trip will bring you to Namibias classical spots you should have seen when visiting this country.

Starting from Windhoek you will proceed directly into the Namib desert to visit the spectacular dunes of Sossusvlei. Leaving the heat of the desert will bring you towards to shore to Swakopmund. A time capsule from colonial times offering the chance for boat cruises, seal watching and experiencing dunes nearly reaching into the ocean. Following the coastline you will reach the Brandberg area with impressive landscape and good chances for wildlife spotting.

Of course this trip is also bringing you to Twyfelfontein – Namibias world heritage site for ancient rock paintings and engravings. With a bit of luck there will be even the chance to spot some Black Rhinos. For everybody not getting enough of the rich Namibian wildlife the trip will proceed through further nice spots in the Kunene region towards the Etosha national park.

Your Namibia safari best-of shall also not be neglecting cultural aspect of the country. For that reason the trips continues into Bushmanland, the area most of the San (Bushman) people are still living their traditional lifestyle in a very unspoiled environment. The final stage to the trip will introduce you into one of the private wildlife conservancy projects of the country - Harnas Wildlife Foundation.

This trip can be booked with camping or lodging accommodation. It is also suitable for self-drive travelling.

Itineraries

Day 1

Arrival in Windhook

We arrive at Hosea Kutako Airport in Windhoek. Transfer to our accommodation and check in.

Here our cars are waiting for us. We get our cars and check that everything is good and ready. Do last minute shopping at the mall.

Day 2

Sossusvlei

After breakfast we start our journey to the Namib desert. We drive through the Khomashochland and descent down to the desert. We drive through beautiful landscape with changing scenery all the time. Along the drive we can also see some free roaming wild animals like antelope.

We arrive around lunch time at the lodge.

Day 3

Swakopmund

Early morning before sunrise we leave the lodge to Sossuvlei. We enter the park at Sesriem at sunrise and drive to the dunes. We will stop for photos on they way to the dunes. We visit Sossusvlei and Deadvlei. After that on the way out we will stop at Dune 45 for the brave to climb.

We make a quick stop at the Sesriem canyon before we start our drive to Swakopmund.

On the way to Swakopmund we will drive through the Gaub canyon and the Kuiseb canyon. The drive has some beautiful scenery and along the way we could see some free roaming animals.

We arrive late afternoon at our accommodation in Swakopmund.

We will eat at a local restaurant dinner tonight.

Day 4

Swakopmund

Today we will visit Walvis bay and will drive to Sandwich harbor through the dunes and will visit this amazing place where the ocean and the dunes meet.

We will have a light lunch in the dunes.

Back at our accommodation in the afternoon for those who want to join some optional activities or just walk around the this beautiful town.

We eat dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 5

Brandberg

After breakfast we drive north along the coast line. We visit a shipwreck along the coast en then stop at Hentiesbaai to fill up the cars. If we have time we can have a quick coffee here.

Then we drive inland through the Namib desert to our lodge for tonight. We aim to be there early afternoon that we could have look out for the desert elephants in the area.

Dinner at the lodge.

Day 6

Twyfelfontein

After breakfast, we go a bit off road to our next destination. We drive through Damaraland and enjoy from time to time some rough driving.

This area has a beautiful scenery and if we are lucky we might even see a black rhino that live here in their natural habitat.

We arrive late afternoon at our lodge where we will have dinner tonight and talk about our experiences of the day.

Day 7

Etosha South

After breakfast we visit the rock engravings and also the Damara tribe before we make our way to Etosha National park. We drive via Outjo where we will have a qiuck stop to fill up the cars.

We want to be in Etosha around 16h00 that we could do an afternoon drive in the park.

At sunset we need to be back in the camp as the gates close.

We will have dinner at the restaurant and then go to the waterhole next to the camp to see what animals come to drink water. Elephant, rhino, lions hyenas and many more animals come regularly to drink water at night.

Day 8

Etosha East

After an early game drive out to see if we could see any predators that caught some prey during the night we will have breakfast and start our drive to the eastern side of the park. Along the way we will be on the outlook for animals and we will visit waterholes along the way.

We arrive late afternoon at our next camp at Namutoni and check in.

We have dinner at the restaurant and talk about the animals we came across today.

Day 9

Bushmanland

Before breakfast we will do a short game drive to the waterholes close by to see what animals we can see early in the morning. We go back to camp for breakfast and pack our cars for our drive today.

We leave the park and drive via the town Tsumeb to the Hoba meteorite. We have a few minutes here to take photos of the biggest meteorite on earth before we drive to Grootfontein to fill up the cars .

We drive further east to the area of the San people (bushman) oldest inhabitants of Namibia.

We arrive at our lodge late afternoon. If there is still enough time before sunset we will do a short drive around and visit some places of interest.

We eat dinner at the lodge.

Day 10

Bushmanland

After an early breakfast we drive north to a San village that we will visit and spend some time with them to learn a bit more of their culture.

Just before noon we will drive more north to the Khaudum National park and spend time around this beautiful park where animals roaming in their natural habitat. Just before sunset we will leave the park and drive back to our lodge.

Dinner at the lodge.

Day 11

Kalahari North

After early breakfast we check out and drive the bush and visit some boabab trees in the area before we start our drive south to Harnas Wildlife Foundation.

We will drive here on some of the longest straightest road that you maybe ever will drive on.

We aim to be early afternoon at the lodge.

We will check in and start to explore the lodge and enjoy the swimming pool after the long drive.

Tonight we will meet the founder and listen to the story of Harnas with the roars of the lions in the back ground.

Dinner at the lodge.

Day 12

Harnas Wildlife Foundation

We meet at the breakfast table and listen to what sounds you did hear during the night. We will join the tour guide from Harnas that will take us on the feeding tour of the animals and meet the animals up close and personal.

We be back in time for a light lunch at the lodge and have a bit of free time till our afternoon activity will start.

Tonight we have our last dinner together for this trip and have to say goodbye to our beautiful country Namibia.

Day 13

Flight Back Home

After an early breakfast we check out and say our goodbyes to this amazing place that will steel your heart in just 2 days.

We start our journey back to Hosea Kutako Airport to complete our journey for now in Namibia.
